President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Algeria, its leadership and people, following the wildfires that have affected parts of the country, stressing Egypt’s readiness to provide any support required during this difficult period.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

During a telephone conversation with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President Sisi highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries and praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations.

He underlined the importance of building on this progress by implementing the understandings and agreements reached between the two sides, particularly the outcomes of the Egypt-Algeria Joint Higher Committee held in Cairo in November 2015.

President Tebboune, for his part, expressed his sincere appreciation for Egypt’s solidarity, describing it as a reflection of the longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries.

He reviewed Algeria’s ongoing efforts to address the impact of the fires and protect citizens and their property, while affirming the significant potential for expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors by drawing on the capabilities and human resources of both nations.

The two presidents also exchanged views on a number of regional issues of mutual interest.

They reaffirmed their support for efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Iranian crisis and reiterated their rejection of any violation of the security and sovereignty of Arab states.

They also agreed on the need to intensify regional and international efforts to prevent renewed escalation and to strengthen coordination and consultation between Egypt and Algeria on regional developments in light of the current challenges.
