Two leaders call for peaceful resolution of regional crises

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with France following the recent wildfires that swept parts of the country. He also expressed Cairo’s readiness to provide any assistance required while stressing the importance of resolving regional conflicts through peaceful means.

The remarks came during a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday.

President Sisi extended his sincere condolences to President Macron over the victims of the wildfires and wished a speedy recovery to those injured, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy said.

He also expressed confidence in France’s ability to overcome the crisis, reasserting Egypt’s readiness to offer all possible support to help French authorities deal with its aftermath.

President Sisi further conveyed his wishes for the continued security, stability and prosperity of France and its people.

President Macron expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s solidarity during the difficult period, describing it as a testament to the depth and strength of the longstanding ties between the two countries.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to further advancing the Egyptian-French strategic partnership and building on the growing momentum in bilateral relations.

The two leaders also reviewed the latest regional developments and exchanged views on efforts to promote de-escalation, particularly in relation to the conflict involving Iran. They also discussed the situations in Lebanon, Libya and the occupied Palestinian territories.

They underscored the need to resolve all regional disputes through peaceful means in order to preserve regional peace and stability. The two presidents also agreed to maintain close political consultation and coordination between Egypt and France in support of peace and stability across the Middle East.

During the call, President Macron also inquired about the recent incident involving two vessels at Damietta Port and reaffirmed France’s solidarity with Egypt, its government and people, following the accident.
