President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening strategic relations and expanding co-operation with Algeria and Tunisia, stressing the importance of intensifying consultation and coordination amid the current regional challenges facing the Arab region and Africa.

During separate meetings on Thursday with Algeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, President Sisi emphasised the need to build upon existing frameworks of bilateral co-operation and strengthen joint efforts aimed at preserving regional security and stability.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati, attended the meetings, alongside senior officials from the Algerian and Tunisian sides, said Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.

Welcoming the Algerian Foreign Minister, President Sisi conveyed greetings to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, underscoring the deep-rooted and historic fraternal relations between Egypt and Algeria.

He also stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of the Joint Higher Committee meeting held in Cairo in November 2015 to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of trade and investment, in a manner that serves the interests of both peoples.

He also highlighted the need to intensify consultation and coordination between Egypt and Algeria in light of the exceptional developments taking place across the region, including through the tripartite mechanism between Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia as a strategic diplomatic framework among Libya’s neighbouring countries.

President Sisi further reaffirmed that Egypt’s foreign policy is based on preventing escalation, respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in internal affairs, while pursuing peaceful solutions that support stability, development and the protection of national resources.

For his part, the Algerian foreign minister, delivered a written message from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressing appreciation to President Sisi and highlighting the significant progress achieved in bilateral relations, particularly in trade and investment.

He also reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening political coordination and expanding co-operation with Egypt across various sectors.

In meeting with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti, President Sisi conveyed greetings to President Kais Saied, stressing Egypt’s pride in its distinguished relations with Tunisia at both official and popular levels.

President Sisi underscored the importance of expanding bilateral co-operation and implementing the outcomes of the 18th session of the Egypt-Tunisia Joint Higher Committee held in Cairo.

For his part, the Tunisian foreign minister conveyed President Kais Saied’s greetings and reiterated Tunisia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing economic co-operation and maintaining political coordination with Egypt.

He also conveyed an invitation from the Tunisian President for President Sisi to visit Tunisia, Spokesman Shennawy said.

The discussions further addressed regional developments and emphasised the importance of strengthening co-operation among Arab states to preserve sovereignty, stability and national resources.

President Sisi highlighted the important role of neighbouring countries in supporting Libya’s unity and stability and stressed the importance of continuing the tripartite coordination mechanism between Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia.
