President Abdel Fattah El Sisi performed Eid al-Adha prayer at Al-Rahman Al-Rahim Mosque at the Strategic Command Headquarters in the new capital.

The Spokesman for the Presidency Mohamed El-Shennawy said the president was received by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb and Minister of Religious Endowments Usama Al-Azhari, as well as a number of ministers, the Governor of Cairo, and the Grand Mufti of Egypt. A wide range of Armed Forces and Police commanders, state officials, and media representatives also performed Eid prayer.

Azhari delivered the sermon and greeted the President and the Egyptian people on this blessed occasion. The sermon focused on the purposes and noble meanings of pilgrimage (Hajj) and the lessons drawn from it. Following the prayer, the President exchanged greetings with those present and witnessed the ritual of sacrifice.

President joined the leaders of the Armed Forces, senior state officials, and a wide range of media representatives for breakfast in the central garden at the Strategic Command headquarters. The national anthem was played before the President departed.
