Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued directives to provide all forms of support to both the agriculture sector and the farmers.

President Sisi also ordered to continue unremitting efforts to enhance the contract farming system in a bid to expand in strategic crop cultivation.

He, meanwhile, instructed to swiftly announce the price guarantee for the supply of corn, soybeans and sunflowers, with the aim of increasing production of such crops.

President Sisi’s instructions came during his meeting Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Mabdouli, along with a host of ministers and senior officials.

Following the meeting, another separate meeting was held grouping President Sisi, the prime minister, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali el Moselhi and Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister El Sayyed el Quseir.

During this meeting, President Sisi was briefed on the ongoing efforts to produce and supply strategic agricultural crops.

The meeting also tackled the progress made so far in implementing numerous food security projects, especially as regards to the development of animal wealth, with all its aspects, said Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.

President Sisi was also briefed on efforts to enhance Egyptian breeds of livestock to enhance their production of meat and milk, according to the spokesman.

The spokesman, meanwhile, said that President Sisi further got acquainted with ongoing efforts to establish milk collection centers nationwide.

In this regard, President Sisi gave directives to expand the use of modern technologies in agriculture and genetic engineering, and to ramp up the use of scientific research to increase production and reduce costs, as such efforts are for the benefit of breeders and farmers.

President Sisi also directed to meet the citizens’ needs of locally-produced meat and dairy products, a matter which supports efforts aiming to attain food security in Egypt.
