President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and President Michael Randrianirina of Madagascar met on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Africa–France Summit held in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.

The two leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations across various priority sectors, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said.

President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support to Madagascar in its efforts to achieve sustainable development, as well as to explore opportunities for joint co-operation in the fields of trade and investment, infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, and human development, El-Shennawy added.

For his part, Madagascar’s President Randrianirina voiced deep appreciation for the trajectory of relations with Egypt, commending the long-standing and fruitful co-operation between the two countries.

He also stressed his country’s keenness to boost coordination with Egypt across various fields in a way that enhances bilateral ties and achieves shared development objectives.

Meanwhile, the meeting discussed several regional issues of mutual concern, as the two presidents agreed on the importance of enhancing bilateral consultation on the challenges facing the African continent, the spokesman noted.

They emphasised that such consultation would contribute to promoting peace, security, stability, and development, in line with the objectives of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063, as they represent the strategic vision for comprehensive development across the continent.
