CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Sunday praised the strategic partnership between Egypt and Hungary that is founded upon the robust historic ties linking the two friendly nations and their people.

The president emphasised keenness of Egypt and Hungary on advancing this partnership and giving it impetus in various domains, particularity the parliamentary one towards achieving shared interests.

President Sisi made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly László Kövér, in the presence of House of Representatives Speaker Hanafy el-Gebaly.

He welcomed the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, praising the momentum of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, according to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy.

President Sisi emphasized the key role of the Egyptian and Hungarian parliaments in enhancing dialogue and coordination on issues of common interest, along with supporting efforts meant to achieve mutual interests, particularly in the field of economic cooperation between Egypt and Hungary, the spokesman added.

The President commended Hungary’s role in supporting Egypt within various European Union institutions, hailing the continued understanding and coordination between the leaderships of both countries, which is based on mutual respect and the achievement of common interests, Shennawy said.

President Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the necessity to intensify efforts to ensure the resumption of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of hostages and detainees, in addition to delivering humanitarian aid to the Strip in sufficient quantities to address the catastrophic humanitarian situation endured by Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly expressed appreciation for Egypt’s vital role in achieving regional security and stability.

He stressed his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Egypt across various levels, considering it a key partner of Hungary and the European Union in the Middle East.
