Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Saturday a telephone conversation from Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, during which they exchanged greetings on the occasion of the new Hijri Year (Islamic calender).
The two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and the dangers of escalation in the region.
Both sides underscored the necessity of avoiding an expansion of the conflict and maintaining regional security and stability along with asserting a complete rejection of attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or forcibly displace the Palestinians.
President Sisi confirmed Egypt is continuing its strenuous efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring safe and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid into the coastal enclave.
In this regard, president Sisi also stressed the need of pushing ahead the implementation of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
