President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Aliko Dangote, Founder and Chairman of the Dangote Group and Head of the African Business Champions Group, on Saturday on the sidelines of the Alamein Africa Forum in New Alamein City.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President Sisi welcomed Dangote’s visit to Egypt and his participation in the forum, praising his contributions to economic development and industrialisation across Africa.
The President highlighted the Dangote Group’s regional and international expansion in key sectors, including cement, fertilisers, energy and food processing. He noted that the group’s investments have helped strengthen production capacity and industrial capabilities in several African countries.
President Sisi also expressed Egypt’s pride in Dangote’s distinguished career, noting that he is an alumnus of Al-Azhar University. He said this reflects the deep historical and cultural ties among African nations and serves as a successful example of continental integration and co-operation.
The President reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening the role of the African private sector as a key partner in achieving sustainable development and advancing the goals of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, according to El-Shennawy.
He added that the meeting explored potential areas of co-operation between the Dangote Group and the Egyptian government, particularly in the energy, fertiliser, chemicals and cement industries.
Discussions also highlighted Egypt’s economic advantages and modern infrastructure, which support its ambition to serve as a regional hub for energy and industry.
For his part, Dangote expressed interest in securing Egyptian government support for the group’s investments in the country.
President Sisi welcomed the prospect of expanding Dangote Group’s investments in Egypt and affirmed the state’s readiness to provide the necessary support and incentives to strengthen economic and investment co-operation between the two sides.
