President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call on Tuesday with Hungary’s Prime Minister-elect Péter Machar. The president congratulated Machar on his party’s victory in the parliamentary elections held on April 12, 2026, praising the democratic atmosphere of the process. He reaffirmed Egypt’s pride in its bilateral relations with Hungary, which have gained momentum in recent years, particularly since the elevation of ties to a strategic partnership in February 2023. Sisi also expressed Egypt’s readiness to work with the new Hungarian government once formed to further strengthen cooperation and political consultation.
Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that Prime Minister-elect Machar thanked President Sisi for his congratulations and voiced his eagerness to enhance Egyptian–Hungarian relations across all fields. He also emphasized the importance of intensifying political coordination on regional and international issues, commending Egypt’s role in safeguarding security and stability in the Middle East and the Southern Mediterranean.
