President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received the Egyptian national football team, along with its technical and administrative staff, in El Alamein City on Saturday in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The reception ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Youth and Sports Gawhar Nabil, and the President of the Egyptian Football Association, Hany Abo Rida.
President Sisi awarded the players, as well as members of the technical and administrative staff, the “Cup of Pride and Honour” and commemorative medals in appreciation of their exceptional performances, discipline, perseverance, and commitment throughout the tournament.
Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy stated that the President expressed immense pride in the team’s remarkable achievement, describing their campaign as a source of national pride that earned admiration across Egypt, the Arab world, and among Egyptian expatriate communities.
The president praised the players for embodying the values, determination, and sportsmanship that reflect the true character of the Egyptian people.
He stressed that their exemplary conduct both on and off the pitch had won them the deep respect of supporters worldwide.
President Sisi affirmed that the national team’s success extended beyond sporting achievement, noting that their disciplined and dedicated performances had inspired the nation and brought joy to millions.
Highlighting the abundance of footballing talent across Egypt, the president called for objective talent identification programmes to discover and nurture promising young players.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting emerging talent and strengthening the role of national coaching staff to ensure the long-term development of Egyptian football.
He encouraged the players to maintain their determination, unity, and strong team spirit, urging them to build on this historic success to inspire future generations and achieve further accolades for Egyptian sport.
The meeting concluded with a luncheon hosted by President Sisi in honour of the national team.
During the gathering, several players expressed their gratitude for the presidential recognition and reaffirmed their determination to continue striving for excellence in upcoming competitions.
