President Sisi affirms keenness of Egypt, Oman on promoting joint Arab action

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that Egypt and Oman are keen on promoting joint Arab action in a way that contribute to confronting the challenges besetting the Arab nation during the current stage.

President Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting Tuesday morning with Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said at Al Alam Palace in the Omani capital, Muscat.

The Egyptian president and the Omani Sultan held a tete-a-tete meeting, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi in statements.

During the meeting, the Omani Sultan hailed Egypt’s pioneering role in promoting mechanisms of the joint Arab action in a bid to confront the current challenges in the region, the spokesman added.

For his part, President Sisi praised the level of coordination between the two countries and their unified visions toward a host of issues of mutual interest.

President Sisi also lauded the Egyptian-Omani consensus toward efforts to protect the navigation in the Gulf and the Red Sea, as well as efforts to confront terrorist and extremist organizations.

The meeting also took up ways of boosting ties between the two countries, with special focus on economic, trade and investment spheres, particularly in light of the outcome of the joint Egypt-Oman Business Council and the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee, which was held in Muscat in January 2022, according to the spokesman.

The two sides also exchanged viewpoints toward a number of international files of mutual interest, topped by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and how the Arabs’ dealing with the repercussions of this crisis, the spokesman noted.

The two leaders also exchanged viewpoints toward the anticipated summit between the Gulf countries, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the US, which is expected to be held in Saudi Arabia, the spokesman said.

He added that the meeting between the two leaders tackled the latest developments related to several regional and Arab issues of mutual interest, particularly the Yemeni crisis.

They also stressed the importance of coordination between Egypt and Oman to enhance the political efforts aimed at supporting the unity and sovereignty of Yemen and the safety of its national institutions and meeting the aspirations of the Yemeni people, according to the spokesman.
