Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsi met on Monday with Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal to follow up the development of Fawakher village in the Fustat area of Old Cairo.
Morsi said his ministry would speed up the implementation of the project because of its economic and environment returns. Al-Fawakher is intended to preserve pottery skills that date back to ancient times.
The two officials reviewed the contract signed by Cairo Governorate and Al-Maasara Company for Engineering Industries (Factory 45 Military) to supply kilns, which run on environment-friendly natural gas.
Morsi said his ministry will execute national and development projects in co-operation with other authorities within the framework of sustainable development in the public interest, while developing human, technical, technological and industrial expertise of all state institutions.
Military production companies and their subsidiaries implement projects with which they are entrusted to the highest efficiency standards and on schedule, the minister said.
For his part, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said Al-Fawakher development comes in line with presidential directives to support handicrafts.
The government would like to see Al-Fawakher on the tourist map, Abdel Aal said.
