Two roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) car carriers have arrived at East and West Port Said within 48 hours, reflecting continued growth in vehicle traffic through ports operated by the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
East Port Said received the LEO LEADER, arriving from Aqaba, Jordan, and carrying 235 transit vehicles bound for the Suez Canal Car Dealership terminal. The vessel is the sixth car carrier to call at the terminal since it began operations.
Meanwhile, West Port Said received the AH SHIN, which arrived from Koper, Slovenia, carrying 671 vehicles under Egypt’s initiative to import cars for Egyptians living abroad.
Both vessels are Ro-Ro ships specifically designed to transport wheeled cargo, including cars and other vehicles, allowing them to be efficiently loaded and unloaded through built-in ramps.
SCZone said the continued flow of car carriers underscores its efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of its ports and consolidate their position as regional hubs for vehicle handling, logistics services and international trade.
The growing activity also supports Egypt’s broader efforts to expand its logistics capabilities and enhance the role of its ports in regional and global supply chains.
