CAIRO – Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, affirmed support for the political leadership’s stand in rejection of the forced or voluntary displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

In exclusive statements to the “Good Morning Egypt” program on Egyptian TV Channel 1 on the occasion of Easter celebrations, Pope Tawadros II said he will not support injustice against the Palestinian people, stressing his support for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Egyptian state regarding the Palestinian issue.

Pope Tawadros said he shares a common vision with Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb vis-à-vis the Palestinian cause, hoping that the conscience of the world will awaken and save the Palestinian people in Gaza.

He referred to the congratulatory cable he received from President Sisi, as he is a president for all Egyptians, voicing appreciation and gratitude to the president for the congratulations he sent to all Christians through Egyptian embassies around the world.

Congratulations to all segments of Egyptian society on the occasion of the successive celebrations of Muslim and Christian holidays that emphaise unity, love, and cohesion, binding Egyptian people’s social fabric as they celebrate with each other on these occasions, stressing the importance of having all Egyptians stay hand-to-hand to ensure Egypt’s safety, the pope said.
