CAIRO– Leaders of several political parties have welcomed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s candidacy for the upcoming presidential election.

They reiterated on Monday that the president’s candidacy sends a message to reassure millions of Egyptians on the completion of the process of development.

The Egyptian political party “Homat Watan” (Protectors of the Homeland), under Galal El Hareedy, said such a step is a strong message that all achievements in all fields will continue nationwide.

The Free Egyptians Party, under Esam Khalil, also praised Sisi’s decision on running for a new presidential term, urging the president to go ahead with the development efforts, which have started since 2014.

Head of Misr October Party Gihan Madih lauded that decision, citing great achievements on women empowerment under Sisi.

For his part, Reda Farahat, vice president of the Conference Party, extended thanks to Sisi over responding to the calls of the Egyptian people to run for a new term.

Sisi is the best leader to run the country in the coming period to complete the development process and achieve further security, safety and stability.

Sisi has managed to lead the country to achieve stability despite crises and instability in the region, uproot terrorism and carry out major national projects, including the development of the networks of roads, Farahat added.

Sisi said he will be running for another term in office in the upcoming presidential election.

Addressing the closing session of the “Story of a Homeland” conference Monday, the president said he has decided to run for president at the request of millions of Egyptians.

“Today, we are in the process of electing a president to assume responsibility of running the Egyptian State,” Sisi told the gathering.

He urged the Egyptians to make this election a real start of a vibrant political life full of pluralism and diversity without transgression or offense.

Sisi said that as an Egyptian citizen, he is very happy with the diversity among presidential candidates, stressing respect and appreciation for them all.

“I intend to run for president to fulfill the dream during a new presidential term. I promise you it will be a continuation of our joint effort for the sake of Egypt and its people.”

Sisi called on all Egyptians to take part in this show of democracy, noting that he respects the will of the people.
