Police-affiliated hospitals nationwide will be open for free medical examinations to all women during the period from November 25 to December 1, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Interior Ministry.
The step came on the occasion of the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The free medical services will be offered in the evening shifts from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, according to the ministry’s statement. All necessary treatment will be provided for women free of charge.
The Ministry of the Interior pays special attention to the “human security” file by directing medical convoys to treat citizens in villages in all governorates and dispensing medicines for them free of charge, in addition to directing missions to issue national ID cards for citizens in their homes, especially the elderly, people with special needs and the sick.
The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
