CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli welcomed on Monday co-operation with the United Nations as regards preparations for the climate change conference, COP27, to be hosted by Cairo next year.
He said that a number of files will be raised at the 2022 conference, including environment preservation and maintaining desert wealth that enjoys biological diversity.
Madbouli gave the remarks during a meeting with executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ghada Wali on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 9th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UNODC.
Wali thanked Egypt for hosting the ninth session, hoping it will come up with fruitful results.
She termed as important Sharm el-Sheikh Declaration, saying it comes at an important timing to guarantee deterrent measures to fight corruption.
She also lauded co-operation between Egypt and the UN to fight illegal migration, saying Egypt has taken long strides in this domain.
She reiterated the UNODC readiness to co-operate with Egypt as regards preparations for COP27.
