Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected Egypt’s first exhibition for intellectual property rights, held on the sidelines of the launch of the National Strategy for Intellectual Property by the Egyptian state on Wednesday.
The launch ceremony was also attended by Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation Daren Tang and President of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Mahmoud Saqr.
The premier attended earlier the launch of the strategy, which is sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
During his tour, Madbouli visited a number of pavilions of several Egyptian universities, research institutions and companies in the exhibition and saw different products on display, covering green fuel and ecofriendly items.
The National Strategy for Intellectual Property has certain goals, that have to do with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The strategy comes in line with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Development Agenda and structural reforms programme, that is adopted by the government in order to achieve harmony and integration between policies and goals of the state in all domains.
The strategy is the first ever step of its kind for intellectual property and calls for realising governance of institutional structure of intellectual property by establishing a national apparatus for intellectual property.
It also aims to boost and promote digital transformation and provide registration services in IT methods.
The strategy aims to pave the way for a legislative environment about IP and support digital transformation in government services as well as spread the concepts of innovation by merging such concepts with all phases of the educational process.
