Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting on Monday to discuss proposals for developing the Egyptian Exchange and review recent achievements. The meeting was attended by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid, Financial Regulatory Authority head Islam Azzam, and Egyptian Exchange chairman Omar Radwan.

During the meeting, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the capital market, protecting investors and expanding private sector participation. He praised positive indicators, including daily trading values rising to LE15 billion and market capitalisation surpassing LE 4 trillion.

Farid outlined recent progress and current studies to enhance the exchange’s performance, particularly government IPOs and incentives for private companies to list. Discussions covered preparations for major offerings, legislative amendments to Law 95 of 1992, and new tax advantages for trading.

The meeting also examined future plans to transform the exchange into a joint‑stock company, upgrade trading and monitoring systems, and expand instruments such as short selling, derivatives and market‑making. Officials stressed encouraging private pension funds to invest in listed equities and removing barriers to establishing new funds.
