Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reviewed a proposal offered by a Chinese company to benefit from waste water of water desalination projects to extract minerals.

This came during a meeting chaired by Madbouli and attended by Housing Minister Asem Gazzar, Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hani Sweilam, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority Walid Gamal Eddin and Chairman of China-Africa TEDA Liu Aimin.

Madbouli welcomed the proposal of the Chinese company in light of expansion of water desalination projects in the current stage, voicing hope that the proposal would lead to considerable economic revenues.

Meanwhile, Gamal Eddin noted that the proposal is presented by TEDA company on behalf of another company responsible for the project.

For their part, Chinese officials expounded that the products to be made from waste water of desalination will be exported and can realize profits up to 40 million dollars annually.

If the number of water desalination stations increase under the project, the profits can hit up to 120 million dollars annually, they added.

The Chinese officials lauded the premier’s support for the proposed project.
