Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reviewed on Sunday the latest progress in restructuring state-owned companies and implementing the government’s divestment programme as part of the State Ownership Policy document during a meeting in New Alamein City.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa and Assistant to the Prime Minister and Chief Executive Officer of the State-Owned Companies Unit Hashem El-Sayed took part in the meeting.

The prime minister stressed that the government is taking concrete steps to improve the performance of state-owned companies, maximise the value of their assets and production capacities, and enhance the efficiency of public asset management to increase their contribution to Egypt’s economic growth.

He also affirmed that the government is closely monitoring the performance of state-owned enterprises while steadily implementing the divestment programme in line with the directives of the political leadership.

He said the programme aims to expand private sector participation, improve the management of state assets, attract additional domestic and foreign investment, and strengthen investor confidence in the Egyptian economy.

Deputy PM Eissa said the restructuring programme seeks to deliver a qualitative improvement in the performance of state-owned companies through modern management systems, higher production capacity, stronger performance indicators, enhanced oversight mechanisms, and greater governance and transparency, thereby increasing competitiveness and supporting national economic development.

Cabinet Spokesman Counsellor Mohamed el-Homosani said the meeting reviewed reform measures across a number of state-owned companies, alongside the progress of public offerings under the government’s privatisation programme.

Discussions also covered the procedures completed during the past period and priorities for the next phase, including broadening ownership, attracting further local and foreign investment, strengthening the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, reinforcing investor confidence and accelerating implementation of the State Ownership Policy.
