Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed progress in implementing the government’s divestment programme and efforts to promote projects and investment opportunities to attract domestic and foreign direct investment.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa, Ministers of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Local Development Manal Awad, Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, and Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Menshawy.
During the meeting, Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing the divestment programme, guided by a clear vision to create greater opportunities for the private sector and expand its role in economic activity.
He stressed the state’s determination to improve the investment climate and promote promising opportunities across vital sectors to attract investment and strengthen the national economy’s resilience.
The meeting reviewed implementation progress and promotional efforts for projects across various sectors, underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering the private sector, expanding its participation in managing and operating state-owned assets, and increasing domestic and foreign investment inflows.
Discussions also covered outstanding dues owed to the Ministries of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Electricity and Renewable Energy by other ministries and government entities.
Participants examined co-ordination mechanisms to settle these obligations, improve both sectors’ operational and financial efficiency, and secure uninterrupted energy supplies to productive and service sectors.
The prime minister directed urgent action to clear the outstanding dues, taking into account the growing financial burdens on both ministries amid rising global energy prices, to ensure the continued and optimal delivery of services to citizens.
