Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi to follow up on key files of the ministry. Madbouly stressed that securing Egypt’s energy needs remains a top priority, highlighting the importance of coordination to boost local production, accelerate new discoveries and reinforce Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub.
Badawi presented the ministry’s plan to ensure stable supplies and operational alternatives, confirming readiness to respond swiftly to developments. He announced that production has begun at the Fayoum‑4 well in West Delta, two years ahead of schedule, adding about 80 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The minister also noted the signing of a $22.7 million contract for Petrojet to deliver natural gas to the Muwaqqar Industrial Development Zone south of Amman, Jordan, as part of Egypt’s strategy to expand the reach of its petroleum companies regionally and internationally.
Badawi reviewed progress on strategic projects with global partners, including exploration and drilling in the Mediterranean, aimed at increasing production and maximising resource use.
