Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the importance of proposed amendments to the law on reconciling building violations. He said that these amendments would address problems that have emerged during its implementation and provide further facilitations for citizens seeking to regularise their status.
Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting on Monday to review proposed amendments to Law No. 187 of 2023 on reconciling certain building violations and legalising their status.
Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Hani Hanna and Minister of Justice Mahmoud Helmy El-Sherif attended the meeting.
Madbouly said the government was keen to respond to citizens’ demands and overcome obstacles that have emerged in applying the law. The proposed amendments were drafted in co-ordination with the relevant ministries and authorities to simplify procedures and make the reconciliation process easier for applicants.
He stressed the need to expedite discussions on the amendments, which he said would help resolve existing problems, facilitate procedures and serve the public interest. The amendments will be referred to Parliament after the Cabinet completes its review.
The prime minister also underscored the need to simplify and speed up reconciliation procedures while taking citizens’ interests into account. He called for a balance between enforcing the law and making procedures easier for applicants to ensure a smoother process and achieve the law’s objectives.
The meeting reviewed proposed amendments to a number of provisions that would provide additional facilitations and greater flexibility for applicants.
Madbouly directed that the observations raised during the meeting be incorporated into the final draft of the amendments.
