CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issues directives to the government to ensure the provision of goods for citizens in the coming period as part of efforts exerted by the State to support people to face repercussions of the current crisis.

Madbouli added all bodies concerned are regularly following up the provision of strategic commodities and stockpiles nationwide.

The government took several steps and measures to control prices in local markets, the premier said, adding any monopoly attempts will be harshly handled.

Madbouli’s remarks came while chairing the second meeting of the committee in charge of facing the impacts of the global crisis on strategic goods Monday, with a number of ministers and senior state officials attending.

Madbouli urged ministers concerned to act to provide strategic reserves of commodities until the end of this year to maintain strategic reserve rates of goods and provide necessary financing for them.

Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi pointed out to efforts exerted to maintain the strategic stockpile of various goods.

He talked about the strategic reserves of basic goods, including wheat, sugar, rice, oil and meat.

He confirmed there is full co-operation with the Private Sector and chambers of commerce to provide different goods in markets with suitable prices.

Moselhi spoke about preparations for the holy month of Ramadan.

Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi said there are more than 15,000 goods sale outlets in different governorates, adding there is stability in markets at present.
