CAIRO – With the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) set to officially open on November 1, 2025, Egypt is preparing to welcome world leaders and distinguished guests to the monumental cultural and civilizational landmark, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said.

Overlooking the Pyramids of Giza, the GEM is considered Egypt’s gift to the world and a symbol of the country’s rich heritage. Its inauguration is expected to mark a historic milestone.

Describing the GEM as a gift to the world is not an exaggeration, Madbouli said, noting that the legacy of ancient Egyptian civilization is recognized as global heritage under UNESCO’s cultural and natural heritage standards.

The announcement coincides with the opening of the “Treasures of the Pharaohs” exhibition in Rome, Italy, underscoring the universal value of Egypt’s heritage.

The GEM will not only serve as a museum and archaeological destination but also as a center demonstrating Egypt’s national determination.

Its collection includes an unparalleled number of ancient Egyptian artifacts, a grand entrance hall, and state-of-the-art exhibition spaces.

The museum opens nearly two years after its foundation stone was laid, marking a key achievement for the country in realizing major national projects.

As the GEM prepares to receive heads of state and dignitaries, Madbouli highlighted that Egypt aims to once again impress the world, following high-profile cultural events such as the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade in April 2021 and the reopening of the 3,000-year-old Avenue of the Sphinxes in Luxor in November 2021.

While authorities are responsible for organizing the inauguration, every Egyptian citizen plays a part in presenting the country’s ancient civilization to the world, Madbouli said.

The prime minister welcomed all guests to Egypt, underlining the country’s rich history, cultural treasures, and its leading role as a center of global heritage.
