Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly left Cairo on Monday for New York to lead Egypt’s delegation to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), at the direction of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The regular session opened on September 8 under the theme “Restoring Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals” and will run until September 7, 2027.
The session is chaired by Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman.
The general debate is scheduled to begin on September 22, with the participation of heads of state and government, foreign ministers and senior officials from UN member states. It will continue until September 28.
Madbouly is scheduled to deliver a number of speeches during meetings and events held as part of the session.
He will also hold a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly, including talks with heads of international organisations and senior representatives of major global companies across various sectors.
