Egypt’s Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouli, visited North Sinai on Sunday to follow up development projects and accelerate their implementation, in a tour coinciding with Sinai Liberation Day celebrations.
During the visit, the prime minister inaugurated the Sinai Plastics Industries Company factory in Bir El-Abd, marking a step in expanding industrial activity in the governorate.
Madbouli was accompanied by Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir, Local Development and Environment Minister Manal Awad, Housing Minister Randa El-Menshawy, and North Sinai Governor Khaled Megawer.
The tour included inspecting a range of development and service projects aimed at improving living conditions and supporting economic growth.
The visit reflects the government’s commitment to achieving comprehensive development in North Sinai, the prime minister said.
The ongoing projects cover key sectors such as healthcare, drinking water, and seawater desalination, he added, referring to major infrastructure works, including the development of Arish Airport and the city’s seaport, as part of a broader strategic plan.
Madbouli noted that these projects fall under the national Sinai development initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which aims to achieve integrated and sustainable growth in the region.
The premier stressed that the government is moving ahead with the second phase of this plan, which includes projects in agriculture, industry, mining, and urban development. Efforts also focus on improving infrastructure through new roads, bridges, and tunnels, while promoting tourism and enhancing quality of life for residents. Madbouli emphasised that these initiatives are part of a wider vision to support both economic progress and human development in North Sinai.
