Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli convened a meeting on Tuesday to follow up on measures aimed at stimulating Egypt’s tourism sector in light of ongoing regional challenges.
The meeting brought together Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny, and Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority Ahmed Youssef.
The meeting aimed to assess the current performance of inbound tourism and review mechanisms to further stimulate the sector and increase tourist arrivals. the prime minister stressed the importance of enhancing measures to boost inbound tourism flows to Egypt, while streamlining entry and exit procedures for tourists across all airports and ports of entry. He also underscored the need to continue improving the quality of services provided to visitors in the coming period.
For his part, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy highlighted that, despite current regional challenges, Egypt’s key strengths lie in its diverse tourism offerings, operational flexibility, and effective marketing strategies. He pointed out that 2025 recorded a notable 21 per cent increase in tourist arrivals compared to 2024, with growth continuing into early 2026 at a monthly rate of 20 per cent year-on-year.
The minister reviewed a number of measures aimed at sustaining the sector’s growth, including encouraging airlines to maintain and expand flights to Egypt, conducting inspection and field visits, and boosting co-operation with all tourism stakeholders, particularly the private sector, to enhance competitiveness.
