Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli began an extensive tour of Matrouh Governorate on Sunday to inaugurate and inspect a number of development and service projects currently under construction. Madbouli will also review progress on the development of the Alam El Roum area.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by several ministers, the governor of Matrouh, the head of the New Ras El Hekma City Development Authority, and the chairman of Matrouh’sCouncil of Mayors and Sheikhs.

Madbouli stressed the great attention the state has given to Matrouh Governorate in recent years, reflected in the implementation of numerous service and development projects that contribute to improving citizens’ quality of life. These projects have also created many job opportunities for local residents.

The projects being implemented by the state in Matrouh aim to achieve integrated urban development and improve citizens’ quality of life, the Prime Minister said.

They include new cities, ports, a modern road network, seawater desalination plants, drinking water and wastewater facilities, as well as projects to establish, develop and upgrade a number of healthcare facilities and other electricity-sector projects.

They also include the trial operation of the first line of the high-speed electric railway network linking Ain Sokhna, Alamein and Matrouh, which is slated to begin next month.

All these projects demonstrate that the state’s comprehensive development efforts have reached every part of the country, he stressed.

The tour will cover a broad range of these service projects, which aim to improve the quality of life of Matrouh residents, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in the Alam El Roum project.

Madbouli highlighted the importance of the project as a major investment partnership between Egypt and Qatari Diar aimed at establishing a new development hub on the North Coast.

A range of projects is being carried out in the area as part of the state’s plans to make optimal use of coastal land and create well-planned, modern tourism-oriented urban communities.

Madbouli emphasised that the project is based on the development of a fully integrated, world-class city that will operate year-round rather than as a seasonal tourist resort, in line with the Egyptian state’s plans to achieve comprehensive development in this promising area.
