Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli along with his accompanying delegation inspected Saturday Sheikh Zuwayed transformer station, after inspecting the New Rafah City.
During his inspection tour, which comes as part of his visit to North Sinai governorate, Madbouli was briefed on the electricity sector projects in North Sinai governorate.
The State implemented numerous electricity projects across the Sinai Peninsula to get rid of the problem of voltage fluctuation, which has emerged in the governorate over the past period, Electricity and Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker told the prime minister.
Such projects also aim to increase electricity production in North Sinai to 700 megawatts, added the minister.
Several steam power stations in Al Arish have been in place over the past years, with total capacity of 70 megawatts, said the minister.
As part of the development projects in the governorate, a mega electricity project was established in the governorate through establishing two gas units in the steam power station, he further said.
Sheikh Zuwayed station aims to provide electricity to Sheikh Zuwayed city and Rafah, he noted.
