Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that the government is increasing Egypt’s strategic reserves of petroleum products and essential commodities in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen the country’s preparedness for regional developments.
Chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting in New Alamein City on Wednesday, Madbouli said the government is closely monitoring stocks of strategic goods to ensure safe supply levels.
He added that fuel reserves are also being expanded to meet different domestic needs and mitigate any potential impact from ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
The prime minister reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting dialogue and diplomatic solutions to regional crises.
He stressed that Cairo continues to work to reduce tensions and supports the sovereignty and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. He also reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of attacks on Arab countries.
During its meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of President El-Sisi’s recent visit to Tanzania. During the visit, El-Sisi held talks with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on expanding bilateral cooperation. The two sides signed memoranda of understanding covering transport, electricity, and renewable energy.
Madbouli said the visit also included the closing session of the Egyptian-Tanzanian Business Forum, attended by more than 35 Egyptian and about 120 Tanzanian business leaders.
The prime minister also reviewed the outcomes of the official visit by Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović to Egypt. Talks with President El-Sisi focused on strengthening economic cooperation, expanding trade, and enhancing political coordination on regional and international issues.
Madbouli said the two leaders agreed to open a new chapter in bilateral relations. He noted that Milatović expressed interest in benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in tourism, energy, and infrastructure, while seeking to expand Egyptian investments in Montenegro.
The visit also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Alexandria Port Authority and the Ports of Montenegro to enhance cooperation in port management, logistics, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and maritime connectivity.
