Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli affirmed that the health sector is a top priority on the government agenda in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives for developing the healthcare system and ensuring the best possible medical services for the underprivileged nationwide, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

Madbouli reviewed a report on the higher medical and relief committee efforts and its comprehensive medical convoys organised in co-operation with civil society institutions.

He praised the committee’s role in providing health services through regional convoys and highlighted vital co-operation with the civil society to offer free medical treatment.

Head of the higher medical and relief committee Naglaa Abdel Moneim noted that the committee organised comprehensive and ophthalmology convoys in Gharbia governorate from April 21 to 24 in co-operation with the Egyptian Cure Bank.

Gharbia Governor Alaa Abdel Moaty received the convoy members and lauded their role in easing citizen burdens, affirming the governorate’s support for such initiatives.

The convoys reached 3,218 beneficiaries, providing 905 medical glasses and conducting 1,665 general check-ups with free medication.

Abdel Moneim added that 179 eye surgeries are scheduled and 62 cases were referred to university and government hospitals for advanced intervention.

The committee will monitor cases needing further treatment in coordination with health facilities and plans more convoys soon.
