Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Sunday Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening relations with Angola and building on the outcomes of the Egyptian-Angolan Joint Committee, particularly in the energy sector and other areas of mutual priority.

Speaking during his meeting with President of Angola João Manuel Lourenço in Luanda, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary African Union Summit, Madbouly conveyed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s greetings to the Angolan President and his appreciation for the distinguished relations between the two countries.

He also delivered an invitation from President Sisi to attend several events scheduled to take place in New Alamein City next October.

Madbouly expressed his pleasure at meeting President Lourenço and praised Angola’s progress and modernisation, noting that his second visit to Luanda had allowed him to witness the scale of development achieved by the country.

The prime minister further highlighted the contribution of Egyptian companies to Angola’s infrastructure development and affirmed Egypt’s readiness to support their continued participation in major development projects, benefiting from their expertise and capabilities.

The discussions covered co-operation in energy, with President Lourenço noting that Elsewedy Electric had secured a contract to construct a power transmission line serving eastern Angola.

The two sides also discussed pharmaceutical and healthcare cooperation, with Madbouly affirming Egypt’s readiness to implement the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries.

He said the company implementing the project is prepared to immediately begin construction of Angola’s first pharmaceutical factory.

Madbouly also expressed satisfaction with the convergence between Egypt and Angola regarding conflicts affecting Africa. He stressed that dialogue, mediation and negotiation, rather than war, are the appropriate means of resolving disputes, warning that armed conflicts result in extensive human and material losses.

He called for intensified African efforts to support peaceful solutions. The prime minister affirmed the importance of continued Egyptian-Angolan coordination on regional and international issues and joint efforts to promote peace, stability, development and economic integration across Africa.

For his part, President Lourenço stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and medical services.

He also highlighted Angola’s plans to establish a major museum and expressed interest in Egyptian expertise, including through Arab Contractors.

Lourenço further highlighted investment opportunities for Egyptian companies, particularly in tourism, and pledged to facilitate their investments. He announced plans to send a high-level Angolan delegation to Egypt to explore further economic and investment opportunities.
