Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli affirmed on Wednesday that the government, in full coordination with the Central Bank of Egypt, is accelerating preparations for the National Economic Transformation Programme to reflect the State’s economic priorities for the coming phase.

Madbouli was chairing a meeting, attended by senior state and government officials, to review the latest developments in preparing the programme.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa, CBE Governor Hassan Abdullah, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid, Labour Minister Hassan Raddad, Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem, Central Bank Deputy Governor Rami Abul-Naga and relevant officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Madbouli said the programme will integrate economic, fiscal, monetary and sectoral policies and measures within a unified macroeconomic framework, ensuring an integrated vision, coordinated roles and a clearer link between policies and targets.

A working group comprising officials from relevant entities is working to expedite completion of the programme.

He said the programme aims to build a more resilient, stable and competitive economy by strengthening private-sector leadership of economic activity, stimulating investment and productivity, increasing exports and creating jobs, thereby supporting sustainable growth and improving incomes and living standards.

The prime minister stressed that improving citizens’ living standards is the programme’s primary objective.

Measures will seek to stabilise prices and protect purchasing power, expand financial inclusion and access to financing, and improve public-spending efficiency by directing resources more effectively towards social protection, health and education.

He added that the government is strengthening the private sector’s role by creating a more supportive environment for economic activity, streamlining procedures, improving access to finance and markets, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs to expand, grow and create jobs.

Madbouli said the State’s role will increasingly focus on regulating and enabling markets, guaranteeing equal opportunities and continuing to provide citizen-centred public services, while balancing economic activity, development priorities and economic and social stability.

The programme will also prioritise strengthening productive capacity, improving sectoral competitiveness, facilitating foreign trade and enhancing customs procedures to boost exports and expand the reach of Egyptian products.
