SAINT CATHERINE – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Sunday issued directives on finalising the project of upgrading and expanding Saint Catherine International Airport that aims to preserving the iconic global status of the city.
Madbouli made the remarks during a tour of the airport expansion project, accompanied by a galaxy of minister, South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda and a number of officials of ministries and bodies concerned.
The premier hailed the quality of carrying out the project.
The renovation project of the airport falls within the framework of “The Great Transfiguration” project in St. Catherine city that aims at turning the area into a global destination for visitors from all over the world.
The state attaches great importance to this unique historic site, Madbouli said, adding that the current development projects aim to represent a value added for the city that is rich in archaeological and religious tourist attractions.
Meanwhile, he posed for a photo-op with workers of the project after conversation with them, during which they asserted continuing work on the project throughout the holy fasting of Ramadan.
