Since 2020, the institute’s missions have been changed in order to raise awareness of the issues pertaining to sustainable development and governance at the national level, added the minister.

Egypt is one of the first countries in the world that exerted efforts to localize the 17 sustainable development goals, so that each governorate has all the necessary information about those goals, she noted.

Said also referred to the file of developing the Egyptian family, controlling population growth rates and upgrading the characteristics of the population, which the ministry handles in coordination with a number of ministries.

The minister pointed out to the crucial role played by the youth in this respect, saying that the clubs have started to raise awareness about the population issue.

Sobhi, for his part, affirmed full readiness to coordinate in any activity related to youth, pointing out to the importance of capacity building, developing cultural and scientific awareness and qualifying youth to the job market.

The minister also referred to the ongoing preparations to finalize the establishment of the youth city in Sharm El Sheikh, which is considered an edifice for Egyptian and African youth.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development Sherifa Sherif referred to the “Be the Ambassador” initiative.

She also pointed out that about 2,300 young people were trained in the first and second batches, who represent all governorates, taking into account the representation of people with special abilities.

Sherif further referred to the “Climate Ambassadors” initiative, which is based on qualifying graduates of the
Be the Ambassador” initiative to be specialists in climate changer-related topics in preparations for COP27.
