Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Said stressed the importance of eradicating all forms of poverty with all implicated dimensions as per the United Nations (UN) 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, Africa’s Agenda 2063 and Egypt’s 2030 Vision to address the issue of poverty that negatively affects the rate of development.

During a discussion panel held on Wednesday in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, as part of the World Youth Forum (WYF)’s discussions, under the title “Developmental Experiences in Facing Up to Poverty ” the minister said the world used to measure the poverty rate through per capita income earned.

She added that due to development in measurement indices, wider aspects were being taken into consideration including standards of living, along with trajectories measuring level of education, health, basic services offered to citizens in their countries and defined by the UN as the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).

The WYF opened in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh Monday, with the participation of prominent world leaders and youths from around the globe
