NEW YORK – Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala Elsaid discussed with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Administrator Achim Steiner ways of boosting mutual cooperation.
This came on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023, which is currently taking place in New York on July 10-19.
The forum is being held under the theme “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Osama Abdelkhalek, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, officials of the Planning Ministry, as well representatives of Egypt’s permanent mission to the UN in New York.
ElSaid underscored the great significance her ministry attaches to maintaining fruitful cooperation and long-term relation with the UNDP, adding that she believes in the ability of the UN agency to provide support Egypt’s underway projects.
Meanwhile, the UNDP representatives said they welcome cooperation with the Planning Ministry on the economic reform program.
The meeting tackled localization of the goals of sustainable development at the domestic level.
