Undersecretary of the Senate (the upper house of the Egyptian parliament) Febi Fawzi affirmed that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi warned against the negative impacts of overpopulation on development towards the new republic.
Commenting on the statements by President Sisi on Monday during launch of the national project for the development of the Egyptian family, Fawzi said: “The state is executing many development projects in all fields since the launch of the new republic under the leadership of President Sisi.
She added that the state is exerting great effortsto improve economic and social conditions of the family.
The problem of population growth should therefore be addressed properly to preserve the gains of the comprehensive development and economic reform programme.
Fawzi pointed out that the president is concerned with the interests of the country and the future of its people.
She said that the president stressed that the national project for the development of the Egyptian family is a project for human rights and state development and that the population issue has become a national security issue.
