Egypt’s National Press Authority (NPA) signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation .

The two sides will collaborate in key knowledge-based areas, enhance scientific research, and organise events, exhibitions, and journalist training programs amid hopes of building youth capacity in the media sector.

NPA Chairman Abdel-Sadek El-Shorbagy and Executive Director of the Foundation Jamal bin Huwaireb singed the MoU which sets a framework for a strategic partnership to support authorship, publishing, translation, and cultural development across the Arab and Islamic worlds.

It also includes co-organising conferences, workshops, and specialised training programs for content creation, leveraging the printing and publishing assets of national press institutions.

Attending the signing ceremony were NPA members, including Hamdy Rizk, Amr El-Khayat, Osama Abu Basha, and others, alongside a delegation from the Foundation led by Shamsa Al Baloushi and Salem Al Owais.

During the event, a presentation was delivered outlining the authority’s vision and modernization plans, followed by a similar presentation about the Foundation’s mission and landmark initiatives.

El-Shorbagy highlighted the solid ties between Egypt and the UAE, and voiced  enthusiasm for initiating a new chapter of collaboration with one of the region’s leading knowledge institutions. He also emphasised the importance of joint projects that empower Arab youth and promote regional knowledge production.

For his part, bin Huwaireb echoed the same sentiments, describing the partnership as a promising gateway for impactful, knowledge-driven projects that strengthen Arab journalism, support young talent, and elevate publishing standards. He praised Egypt’s historic intellectual contributions and affirmed the Foundation’s readiness to deepen cooperation with the National Press Authority in various fields.

The MoU also covers collaboration with the Foundation’s Digital Knowledge Center to promote Egyptian publications, participation in the World Arabic Language Day, co-organizing a competition for the best Arabic-language research in journalism, and expanding awareness of the Global Knowledge Index. The parties also agreed to jointly host training sessions, educational content, and youth empowerment initiatives, especially for young Arab journalists.

At the conclusion of the event, the two sides exchanged commemorative shields in recognition of the new partnership.
