CAIRO – The Egyptian National Press Authority (NPA) on Wednesday mourned the death of Palestinian journalist Sherin Abu Aqleh, who was killed during a raid by Israeli occupation soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
In a press release, the NPA condemned the heinous crime, describing it as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and press freedom.
The authority extended heartfelt condolences to Abu Aqleh’s family and the Palestinian people.
Abu Aqleh was killed despite wearing a flak jacket marked “press”.
Considered one of the most famous Palestinian journalists, Abu Aqleh, 51, was hit by a live bullet in the head on Tuesday night while covering the incidents taking place in Jenin, according to Palestinian sources.
