Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli met executives from Nissan Motor Co. on Monday on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the production of the first Nissan Magnite vehicle in Africa at Nissan Egypt’s plant in 6th of October City.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, Giza Governor Ahmed El-Ansary, Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Fumio Iwai, and senior officials from Nissan’s global and Egyptian operations.

Madbouli welcomed Nissan’s continued expansion in Egypt, expressing the government’s confidence in the company’s future plans as one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers. He also praised the swift completion of the new production line and said he looked forward to seeing Nissan’s first electric vehicle manufactured in Egypt.

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid said the start of production reflects the attractiveness of Egypt’s investment climate and its ability to draw leading global manufacturers. He added that the government continues to introduce incentives and trade facilitation measures to support the automotive sector and boost exports.

Meanwhile, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said the project represents a key outcome of Egypt’s national strategy for developing the automotive industry. He highlighted ongoing efforts to increase local content through stronger supplier networks and supporting industries.

Nissan Egypt Managing Director Mohamed Abdel Samad described the launch as a major milestone for the company and a reflection of its commitment to expanding investments in the Egyptian market. He noted that installation of the new production line began in the first quarter of 2025, while trial production started in early 2026.

Abdel Samad added that the Magnite would be offered at competitive prices to meet local demand, while Nissan also plans to export the model to North African and other international markets.

Massimiliano Messina, Nissan’s Chairperson for Africa, the Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania, praised government support for the automotive sector through Egypt’s national automotive industry development strategy.

He said Egypt holds a special place in Nissan’s regional plans due to its strategic position as a manufacturing and export hub.
