The Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) issued its 37 weekly report for the period from October 14-20, which included many different activities as follows: Participation of the National Food Safety Authority in the Third Meeting of Dates in the Center of Exhibitions in the City of Kharja in the New Valley Governorate.
It held on October 14-15 to support the production and manufacture of dates in the governorate and enhance co-operation with various countries.
Also, the National Food Safety Authority reviewed the necessary requirements and quality standards to expand the export of dates to various foreign markets. Sweet potatoes also topped the list of exported Egyptian vegetables by 12,000 tons, while pomegranates topped the list of exported fruits by a total of 13,000 tons.
Last week, Italy represented the largest recipient of Egyptian exports and then Saudi Arabia and Vietnam out of a total of 142 importing countries.
The port of Safaja continues to occupy the first place in the number of food messages exported from it, with a total of 510 messages, followed by Cairo airport with 466 messages, and the port of Alexandria with a total of 410 messages.
As part of the efforts of the branches of the Authority to tighten the control of food facilities in implementation of the directives of Head of the National Food Safety Authority Dr. Tarek El Houby to ensure the safety of the food products offered and to preserve the health of consumers in the various governorates such as Gharbia, Menoufia, Luxor, Sharqia and Dakahlia Governorates.
