The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said that the number of food export consignments reached 3,700, totaling 230,000 tonnes, shipped by 1,424 exporting companies. The consignments covered around 720 food product categories, including vegetables, fruits, and various food products.

According to the NFSA’s 34th weekly report for 2026, covering the period from September 5 to 11, the number of exported vegetable categories reached 37, with total quantities amounting to 50,000 tonnes. Potatoes once again topped Egypt’s exported vegetables during the past week, with 18,000 tonnes, followed by onions at 14,000 tonnes and beans at 5,000 tonnes.

NFSA added that 30 fruit categories were exported, totaling 30,000 tonnes. Mangoes topped the list of exported fruits during the past week, with 8,000 tonnes, followed by strawberries at 7,000 tonnes and pomegranates at 5,000 tonnes.

It noted that Sudan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia topped the list of countries importing Egyptian food products during the past week, followed by Lebanon and Italy, out of a total of 163 importing countries. Safaga Port ranked first in the number of food export consignments handled during the week, with 665 consignments, followed by Alexandria Port with 545 consignments and Damietta Port with 455 consignments.
