Egypt’s newly-appointed Ambassador to Malawi Mohamed el Sherif presented his credentials to President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
The diplomat congratulated Chakwera on assuming the presidency of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), expressing Egypt’s confidence in Malawi’s ability to enhance economic integration inside the grouping and laying down a unified vision in face of common challenges facing southern African states.
The diplomat praised deeply-rooted relations binding Egypt with Malawi, expounding the role of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development in boosting development in Malawi.
He expressed hope of promoting bilateral relations at all levels and exploring new vistas for co-operation.
The Malawian president asked the Egyptian diplomat to convey his regards to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, lauding historic relations binding the two countries since the era of late president Gamal Abdel Nasser.
He hoped of maintaining coordination between the two countries towards issues of importance to both sides at regional and international arenas
