Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rustum and Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil discussed on Tuesday the executive mechanisms of the proposed “Youth Economy” initiative.

The initiative aims at boosting young people’s participation in economic activity in line with directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

It will also seek to enhance youth participation in the country’s development efforts under the government’s programme derived from Egypt’s Vision 2030, according to a statement by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

Rustum welcomed the minister of youth and sports, stressing the ministry’s vital role in empowering young people and channeling their potential into productive contributions to national development.

He affirmed his ministry’s commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure the success of the initiative, which forms a key pillar of the state’s strategy to build human capital, improve living standards and localise sustainable development goals across Egypt’s governorates.

The minister said the ministry possesses comprehensive and up-to-date databases covering all governorates. He pledged to provide the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the information needed, in co-operation with the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS), to identify the comparative advantages of each governorate and maximise their economic potential.

NI Capital and NI Consulting, as the ministry’s strategic investment and advisory arms, will contribute to managing investment portfolios and funds while providing technical consultancy for the initiative, Rustum added.

For his part, Youth Minister Gohar Nabil described the initiative as an ambitious national project aimed at transforming young people’s potential into a productive economic force.

He  also stressed the importance of maximising the use of the ministry’s fixed assets, including youth centres, sports and youth development centres, and youth and sports cities.
