Nat’l athletes deliver standout performance at under-17 Taekwondo championship

The athletes of the National Talent and Olympic Champions Project have demonstrated their outstanding capabilities and competitive excellence through a remarkable performance at the Under-17 Taekwondo Republic Championship for Clubs, held from 23 to 26 April at 6th of October Club.

Their results reflect the high level of technical preparation and comprehensive development provided under the project’s training system, the Sports Ministry said in a statement.

It added that the competition witnessed outstanding results across multiple weight categories.

On the first day, project athletes secured several gold medals, including Judy Mahmoud Mustafa of Alexandria (42 kg), Yassin Magdy of Giza (45/68 kg), Habiba Mohamed of Alexandria (68 kg), and Angie Essam of Al-Husayniya (44 kg).

Yassin Walid of Menoufia won silver in the 78 kg category, while bronze medals were achieved by Zeina Mostafa (Gezira), Yahya Mohamed (Port Said), Rose Mohamed (Matoubas), Basant Mohamed (Port Said), Abdelrahman Karam (Giza), Ziad Mohamed (Alexandria), and Saja Noman (New Cairo).

On the second day, the athletes continued their strong performance, with gold medals secured by Malek Ahmed of Al-Husayniya (73 kg), Salma Mohamed of Al-Jazira (63 kg), and Mazen Sabry of Port Said (55 kg).

Gidaa Mohamed of Alexandria earned silver in the 55 kg category, while Yassin Ahmed of Al-Tagamoa and Alaa Abdel Aziz of Al-Husayniya both achieved third place in their respective categories, the ministry said in its statement.

It added that on the final day of competition, Ahmed Hazem of Al-Tagamoa won silver in the +78 kg category, while Yassin Walid of Zagazig secured bronze in the same category.

In the overall standings, the Port Said project team finished second in the boys’ category, while the Al-Husayniya team tied for third place.

In the girls’ competition, the Alexandria project team achieved second place overall.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports emphasised that these results highlight the success of the National Talent and Olympic Champions Project in providing advanced technical preparation and integrated athlete support.
