Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership crucial to boosting ties with African continent 10 - Egyptian Gazette

Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports inaugurated on Friday the activities of the third day of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership.

The event, started on May 31 and ends June 17, is organised under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, with participation of 150 young leaders from non-aligned and friendly countries.

This fellowship is held under the theme “South-South Co-operation”, in co-operation with the National Training Academy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other national institutions.

It is very crucial to boosting ties with African continent.

Ambassador of Singapore to Egypt, Dominic Goh, and Ambassador of India in Cairo, Ajit Gupti, attended the dialogue session themed “founders of Non-Aligned Movement”, held on the sidelines of the third edition of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership.

During the session, the Indian ambassador addressed the role of leader Nehru in the Non-Aligned Movement, reviewing the strong relations between the Indian leader and President Gamal Abdel Nasser.

The Singaporean ambassador highlighted the personality of the leader Lee Kuang Yew and his role in the Non-Aligned Movement, noting that the world has changed a lot, especially with the revolutionary movements.

Former dean of the Institute of Arab Research and Studies, Ahmed Youssef, who attended the session, thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for inviting him to participate in this important fellowship that comes under the name of late Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser.

He considered this fellowship as a foundation for a global youth movement that works for development.

Youssef spoke about the role of Gamal Abdel Nasser in the Non-Aligned Movement.

Hassan Ghazali, General Coordinator of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, also said that the fellowship took the name of late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, given that he is one of the most important leaders for the peoples of developing countries (Africa, Asia, and Latin America).

Abdel Nasser was one of the most important unique models of leadership as he is called, “The Father of Africa.”

The Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership builds on Egypt’s ongoing efforts, to strengthen the African youth role through providing them with all forms of support and training, in addition to empowering them to occupy leading positions.

The Nasser Leadership Fellowship was launched in June 2019, targeting young African executive leaders from different professional disciplines within their own communities, with the objective of acquainting them with Egypt’s development in various sectors.
